Puerto Natales, Chile – Day 2

Monday – Today we took a long drive up to Torres Del Paine National Park. Torres Del Paine is the crown jewel of the Chilean National Park System, probably akin to Yosemite in the US. Fabulous rocky peaks and glaciers with glacial melt streams running through meadows.

The weather held again and we had an amazingly clear day. Our tour director, Marcos, said he had never seen such clear and beautiful views of Towers (Torres).

Later in the day we took a hike out to Grey Glacier

and saw some of the blue icebergs along a glacial moraine. It was a long day of driving but the day was capped off by a tasty wine pairing dinner at the hotel. The Chilean wines we have had are superb. Unfortunately, they don’t export much of the good stuff to the US. We have especially enjoyed the Sauvignon Blancs, Chardonnays, and Carignanes (check spelling).
